Chances are you've decided where you would like to go and assuming you have read my ac adapter article you know whether or not it is advisable to take with you some ac power adapters. Unfortunately, like many things in life, none are equipped with exact rules governing travel adapters.
I might suggest bringing power adapters even though you know your destination uses the same x ac plug. Many tropical vacation destinations end up with power outlets without using ground. Therefore if you have had a grounded plug (like in your laptop) you will require an ac power adapter to convert it for any non-grounded outlet. North Americans please take into account that quite a few of your appliances with non-grounded plugs are polarized. (ie. They're able to only fit in one of many ways). You may need an ac wall adapter in most countries as their outlets will never accept polarized plugs.
If you are visiting England you need to be extra careful about which ac adapters you bring. Britain have a standardized system for ac adaptors and actually have several backyard garden wall outlets, so you might need to get hold of a travel adapter when you finally reach your hotel. If you carry out, you could find foreign plug adapters from the local home improvement store.
These ac wall adapters are relatively cheap and that i recommend bringing several along with you. Power adapters are easy to lose and fellow travelers would want to borrow an adapter of your stuff. Always carry more then one ac adapter along with you from start to finish – maybe with your backpack - when you need to be caught without getting a power adapter at any given time. And forget these electrical adapter plugs you should not convert electricity. Please check out my Power Converter page for much more.
